Job offer
comparison.
Two offers rarely look apples-to-apples. One has higher base, the other has equity, a match, and lower cost of living. This tool runs both through a consistent total-comp formula so you can compare them honestly.

What this tool assumes
- COL-adjusted total comp = nominal total comp x (100 / local COL index). Useful when comparing offers across cities.
- COL index 100 = US average. NYC / SF ~150-180, low-cost midwest ~85-95. Use Numbeo, AreaVibes, or BLS CEX for city-specific numbers.
- Equity value entered is the per-year vested dollar value, not the total grant. Divide 4-year grants by 4.
- Benefits value includes health insurance premium difference (employer-paid), FSA, commuter, life, disability, and other perks that are real money.
- Per-work-day assumes 261 work days per year minus your PTO allocation.
- Taxes are not modeled here; state-to-state tax differences can materially shift the comparison. Use the Paycheck Optimizer for per-state take-home math.
