How you can use the site

Read it. Share it. Quote it. Save the tools to your own machine and keep running them if the site ever goes offline. Screenshot a chart and send it to a friend. Translate a page and publish it elsewhere, as long as you attribute it.

The content is offered freely for personal and educational use. Attribution is appreciated but not required for sharing short excerpts. For wholesale republication, add a link back to the original page and a note that the material originates from fiatisfake.org.

What you cannot do: claim authorship, sell the content as if it were your own, or remove the accuracy disclaimers when republishing tools.

Not financial advice

Every page on this site is educational content. Nothing on it constitutes financial, investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice. The author is not your adviser, your planner, your accountant, or your lawyer.

The calculators return estimates based on the assumptions you supply. Real outcomes depend on specifics the tools cannot know: your full tax picture, your employer plan details, your state rules, your health, your time horizon, your risk tolerance. Treat every output as an input to a conversation with a fiduciary, not as a decision.

The site's author holds only Bitcoin. That personal choice is disclosed on Disclosures. It is not a recommendation that you do the same.

Accuracy and corrections

The site uses a verify-badge system, so every moving number can be traced to its primary source. The author aims for accuracy and cites everything. Errors still happen. Figures drift. Tax brackets change. Source links break.

If you find an error, email hello@fiatisfake.org with the page URL and the specific claim. Corrections are made promptly and a last-updated date appears at the bottom of each page.

No warranty

The site is provided as-is. The author makes no warranty, express or implied, that the content is complete, current, fit for any particular purpose, or free of errors. Any action you take based on what you read here is taken at your own risk.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site and its author are not liable for any loss, damage, tax outcome, investment loss, data loss, or missed opportunity arising from use of the site, the tools on it, or any program or file downloaded from it.

Downloadable software and files

Some releases here are downloadable programs or files rather than web pages. Everything above applies to them in full: they are educational tools, they are not advice, and they are provided as-is with no warranty of any kind. Two things are specific to software.

You may use it freely, and nobody is on call. Downloaded software is offered free for personal use, with no licence fee, no account, and no subscription. There is no support obligation, no service level, no guarantee that a future version will exist, and no guarantee that any release will keep working on future versions of your operating system. Releases are unsigned unless a page says otherwise, and each one publishes its SHA-256 hashes so you can verify what you downloaded before you run it. Verifying is your responsibility, and running an unverified file you obtained somewhere other than this site is entirely at your own risk.

Your data stays with you, which means it is yours to protect. These programs run locally. They do not transmit your household figures anywhere, which also means no copy exists on any server and nothing can be recovered for you. Files these programs save are ordinary readable files on your own computer, not encrypted and not password-protected. Backing them up, storing them somewhere only you can reach, and deleting exports you no longer want are yours to handle.

Downloadable releases include third-party open-source components under their own licences. Each release ships those licence texts and its own notices alongside the program; where a component's licence grants you rights beyond these terms, that licence governs for that component.

If you republish or build on this

The material here is shared generously, and that generosity runs one way: if you republish the content, embed a tool, or ship something built on it, you take responsibility for how it is used in that new context, and you agree to cover the site and its author against claims arising from your use or republication. Keep the accuracy disclaimers attached, as noted above, and the point takes care of itself.

Changes to the site

The site is edited continuously. Pages are added, rewritten, and occasionally removed. URLs may change. The site makes a reasonable effort to redirect or repoint broken internal links. If an important page you bookmarked disappears, email the URL and a redirect or archived copy will be returned.

Governing law

Disputes, if any, are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which the site owner resides at the time of the dispute. Because the site is personal and noncommercial, the practical intent is plain: share, read, and use the content in good faith.
