About Fiat Is Fake.
What this site is and how it is built.

Who makes this site, why it exists, how it is funded, and what the editorial philosophy is.

Section 1 · What this site is

Fiat Is Fake is a personal-finance and Bitcoin education site built to fill a gap. Most financial education either ignores Bitcoin entirely or treats it as speculation. Most Bitcoin content ignores traditional personal finance. This site covers both.

The central thesis: understanding how money works (how it is created, who controls it, what it is worth over time) makes every other financial decision clearer.

We are Bitcoin-focused but not Bitcoin-only. Roth IRAsIndividual Retirement Account (IRA)A personal retirement savings account with tax advantages. Two main types: Traditional (tax now, pay later) and Roth (pay now, tax-free forever).Full definition, 401(k)s, index funds, debt payoff, and insurance all matter. We cover them with the same rigor.

Section 2 · How it is funded

This site has no advertising and no paywall. It is funded by voluntary Bitcoin donations and by affiliate relationships with a small number of products we would use ourselves.

  • Affiliate relationships are disclosed on the relevant pages, never hidden in body copy.
  • We do not write content for affiliate partners. The product recommendations exist independent of any commission.
  • Donations are the preferred support model.

Tips welcome at the address in the footer. If you find a page useful, sharing it is also valuable.

Section 3 · Editorial philosophy

Steelman the opposing view

Every section arguing for Bitcoin includes the strongest case against it. Every section critical of fiat includes the legitimate arguments for the current system. If we cannot articulate the other side's best argument, we have not understood it.

Verify everything

Claims require sources. Sources are cited with verify badges throughout the site. When we cannot verify something, we say so explicitly rather than asserting confidence we do not have.

Plain English

Jargon is defined on first use. Tooltips throughout the site provide quick definitions. We do not use words to signal sophistication; we use them because they are precise.

Honest about limitations

We do not know what Bitcoin will be worth. We do not know exactly when Social Security will face cuts. We say that explicitly rather than projecting false certainty. Where the projections come from named institutions (CBOCongressional Budget Office (CBO)A nonpartisan federal agency that provides economic and budget analysis to Congress., IRS, SSASocial Security Administration (SSA)The federal agency that manages Social Security retirement, disability, and survivor benefit programs.), we cite them.

Section 4 · This is not financial advice

Everything on this site is education. Your situation is specific and may require a specific professional who knows it (CPA, CFP, attorney). The content here informs your decisions; it does not make them for you.

See Disclosures for the full legal framing.
